13 April marks the 151st anniversary of the founding of the world-famous Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met), New York.
A few facts about the Museum:
- The fourth most visited and fourth largest museum in the world
- Founded in 1870 by a group of American businessmen, artists, and thinkers of the day
- The museum today houses a permanent collection of more than 1.5 million art objects
- The Metropolitan is home to Van Gogh's Self-Portrait in a Straw Hat, Pollock's Autumn Rhythm: Number 30, Rembrandt van Rijn’s Aristotle with a Bust of Homer, and Degas' Dance Class.
