Alexander Levich – the last romantic. One and a half dozen of large canvases. The sea, the wind, the man. But any snivel – here not Andrievsky uzviz at all. It’s the sharp optics of the new look. Everything is fair, almost autobiographical.
Levich – probably, the only artist, who has his own yacht and who puts to the sea. He’s out of breathe without sea, just like an asthmatic. «The flesh is sad,alas!-and I’ve read all the books. Let’s go! Far off. Let’s go! I sense that the birds, intoxicated, fly deep into unknown spume and sky!» – it’s Mallarme say’s about him.
Every work was carrying as a child. Every work was painted with "their" old sailor's song. Levich cares about music background of the exhibition too; he made a compilation of British naval songs. The video of sea, that recorded on mobile phone from a sinking boat, splashes on the wall of the huge hall of Museum. You can take a glass of a real Scottish and deep in artist’s world.
Levich is from the Sturm und Drang generation, from the first Youth exhibition and plein air, first travel to America and others Odense. But he tired fast to run with roll trousers on the road of postmodern Youth League. Seamen doesn’t run, they take a way. And where do You go, when the sea is in front of You?
«ArtCult» interested in artists who are fair, who extremely heartfelt. In case with Levich it’s also beautiful. We’re no longer afraid of it, right?
