The second century will soon be over that we are reading «Kobzar». Now is the time when Shevchenko’s anniversary coincided with deep social disturbance in our society. Therefore we should reflect the poetic message of the great poet. As another Ukrainian poet Ivan Dziuba noted: «So far as we understand Shevchenko, we understand ourselves.»
The exhibition organized by the Modern Art Research Institute of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine is a conceptual project, aimed to a new reading of Shevchenko’s poetry. Its imagery and senses not only are still timely for present-day Ukraine, but may become an impulse for deep reflection on the vision of our future.
Presented works of contemporary art (graphics, fine art, photography, videos) along with Shevchenko’s texts create intense discussion field, every chain of which is topical and up to date
