February 1 – 21, 2021
From 1-21 February 2021 the M17 Sculpture Prize International Forum will take place at the M17 Contemporary Art Center which is designed to become an analytical platform for reflecting on the results of the first Ukrainian three-dimensional art award M17 Sculpture Prize (https://cutt.ly/dh37vpm) and the exhibition of its nominees "M17 Sculpture Prize: Roots and Pollen". ARTСult Foundation is a partner of the event.
The forum is a part of the large-scale M17 Sculpture Prize project which is the first professional award in the field of 3D art in Ukraine.
Forum panels:
Format: panel online/offline discussions, lectures, artist’s talks.
Alongside the Forum, a Conference will be held to cover the issues, in a distance format, upon the theme "Reforming the Space".
The conference will result in the publication of a pdf collection and publication of selected works on the M17 Contemporary Art Center's website, as well as in the catalogue to the exhibition "M17 Sculpture Prize: Roots and Pollen" (with ISBN number).
Selected conference participants will be invited to present their papers at events during the M17 Sculpture Prize Forum (from February 1 to 21, 2021).
The aim of the Forum and the Conference is to analyze, through the example of contemporary three-dimensional art, how artists see contemporary reforms and how through their work they can directly participate in the social, political, and ideological transformations of the country and the world. In a global redistribution of spheres of influence, interference of narratives and meanings in communication processes, it is of utmost importance to pay close attention to the forms that space takes. What do these forms tell us? What do they bear witness to? And how can we trigger reforms "from below", if the "form of space" has a transformative influence on ideology and is not just a "symptom" of it?
Undergraduate students, postgraduates, scholars, cultural industry workers who work on issues related to three-dimensional art, and artists themselves are welcome to take part in the conference. Languages: Ukrainian (or any other for foreigners), English. Format: remote. No organizational fee. In order to take part in the conference, please see the requirements and details here
