Ukrainian Contemporary Art in Saatchi Gallery, Days of Ukraine in the UK
09 October 13On 17-19 October, 2013 Firtash Foundation will hold the Days of Ukraine in the UK. The program will include art project of Ukrainian Contemporary Artists in Saatchi Gallery. Among them: Oleksandr Zhyvotkov, Mykola Matsenko, Anatoliy Kryvolap, Viktor Sydorenko, Oleg Tistol, Nazar Bilyk, Igor Gusev, Zhanna Kadyrova, Pavlo Korestey, Roman Minin, Vinny Reunov, Oleksandr Roitburd, Arsen Savadov, Marina Skugareva, Tiberiy Silvashi, Vasyl Tsagolov, Matviy Vaysberg, Boris Michailov and Artem Volokitin.
The main objective of the exhibition, stated by Ihor Abramovich, curator and advisor at the Modern Research Institute in Kiev, is to demonstrate the development of Ukrainian art through presentation of several generations of Ukrainian contemporary artists. Our selected artists are the leading representatives of Ukrainian Contemporary Art, whose works have already been recognized in Ukraine and abroad including international fair projects, auctions and Biennale. The exhibition covers the progress of Ukrainian art over the past two decades and specifically how the 1990s art boom split into two main movements-the figurative postmodern and the non-figurative neo-avant-garde. These two movements defined the overall nature of Ukrainian art of that period and laid the foundation for the current contemporary art style. The exhibition also represents individual phenomena of 2000s that continue developing art-process in a new format and meaning.
“Presence of Ukrainian artists in Saatchi Gallery is important for us, as will rise recognition of Ukrainian art in the world" considers Viktor Sidorenko, Director of Modern Art Research Institute.
During the Days of Ukraine in the UK, the organizers will hold a series of other different cultural events, all details on www. ukraine-days.co.uk
